Went to the local ford store to get some XL-12 transfer case fluid and was informed that they were out and ford had discontinued XL-12 and they could no longer order it. Their computer showed that a dealer 45 miles south had six qts.. First thing this morning I called them to verify that it was indeed XL-12 and it was so I made the trip south on I35 and picked up all six qts.
Another check box on my 150k maintenance list.

I was all setup with Mercon LV to do the TC. Then I watched a couple youtube videos that added confusion about what fluid to use. Did a little more research and decided to use Transfer Case Fluid(XL-12) as per 2014 F-150 Owners Manual and the 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Supplement. Mercon LV is recommended for automatic four wheel drive (Torque On Demand) transfer case, that said LV should be ok in a Electronic Shift-On-the-Fly TC.

I think XL-12 has been discontinued. Mercon LV is also approved for 2013-2014 power steering fluid. Fordtechmaculoco has some good videos but sometimes is a little off. The Borg Warner plant that makes the transfer cases was hit by a tornado recently and shutdown. Probably back up now but best to take care of what we have with inexpensive maintenance. I just did mine last month with Mercon LV off the shelf from Oreily.
