Title pretty much sums it up. I've got 125k on my gen1 I have had since it was new. I have the itch for a new truck and really like the gen2. My gen1 is paid for but I still owe about $40k on my gt350r. Here is the dilemma...I don't want two car payments because I just don't like the thought of it. So I was considering getting rid of the gen 1 and the r and I would have just a small payment on the new truck. I love everything about the R but I never really drive it that much. I feel like I would get more use out of the new raptor but it's hard giving up the r since they are somewhat rare. Thoughts?

I owned a Gen 1 and the just purchased a 2020 ... the only downside of the Gen 2 is not having the 6.2L exhaust note. But I quickly got over that as soon as I gently hit the accelerator on my test drive. Yes, the Gen 2s are THAT good.

And if you have one of the early GT350Rs with high oil consumption, I would definitely trade.

FWIW.

that is a tough one, we love our gen 2 only had it for about a month now. I have driven a few 350's at length and they are amazing vehicles. at this point in the game it would almost be worth it to hold onto your gen 1 continue to pay on your R and by the time the 3rd gen is out the R will be paid off and problem solved only one car payment!
Being an R it could possibly hold value or even appreciate depending on the market.

Yeah this exactly is what is kind of holding me back. I don't want the R to be that car that one day i regret getting rid of it. I believe the next gen raptor is a year or two out right? Will be interesting to see what Ford does with it.

Yeah I drove the gen 2 the other day and was amazed at how peppy and sporty it felt. To me my gen 1 feels like an ole truck compared to the gen 2. The gen2 definitely has more of a sports car feel but is still a truck.

i was faced with a similar situation and decided to just keep a truck since i rarely drove the sports car after getting the truck.

If the itch isn't too bad, wait for the Gen 3 to come out. Especially if you still like the R. Then again, you may be able to score a good deal with the economy in limbo. Especially with the R being traded too

That's my plan for now, but if the Gen 3 isn't that much better than the 17's+ then I'll pick up a Gen 2.

Yeah it's a tough one. I would rather have a solid truck than having the latest and greatest. Usually if you wait until the next generation has been out for a bit Ford makes improvements to it(i.e. 2019 update for gen 2). Having said that who knows what the gen 3 will bring that could possibly sway me. I think we are a year or two out from seeing what the gen 3 will bring though.
