It's about 1/4" (the water jet took about 1/8" alone from cutting) to far down (would push the whole cradle up in the front) and if left at that height would probably need to go another 1/4 - 1/2" (maybe more) forward more to not hit anything. With that being said though, I do love how much the torque arm has calmed down the rear end of my truck. Hooks up great and feels super planted. I would do it again... but I just wish I looked closer at to what was going on up there as it would have saved me a lot of grief...

Still wonder why Dave from KHC hasn't been on here discussing this issue.

I wasn't sure if I was an isolated case, the KHC guys seemed to think it was. Now it looks like possibly 3 total? Might be a good idea to get a roll call on MY trucks. A real simple redesign of that bracket would prevent any future issues. Better safe than sorry.

Hopefully this info is useful to anyone else who has one of these and hasn't put it on yet.

I’ve got a 2018 and had been waiting for a diff cover to come back from powder coat to install all at once. I appreciate all the info you provided. I’m hoping to get it all installed this weekend. Based on what you saw, will I be able to tell if I’m going to have this issue right away or will I need to put some miles on it and check first?

You will see it immediately. So after you remove the brake line bracket and cut the abs bracket on the drivers side bolt on your U bracket to the cradle. Place the cradle on top of the diff and get the axle clamps flush. You probably don't need to bolt it down just smack it with a mallet and see where that front U bracket lays. If the U bracket is touching the diff housing at all or looks close uncomfortably close to your deflector just cut it. You don't need to cut as much as I did but I wanted to make 100% sure I would have no problems. Basically with mine tightened down the U bracket laid on the edge of the diff. It rounded the edge of the bracket a little bit and you can see where it slid in front of the diff housing into my seal. This happened as soon as I got into the throttle to test it out. I thought everything was settling in but it was just my seal dying. if you hear any sounds like a loud thud or something, baby it back home and look around. Something is probably wrong/loose.

Other things to look at that I had issues is with is the fitment of the greased joints. All of mine were SUPER tight. Test fit them on the side 1st and grease everything up. I ended up removing powder coat and shaving down some of the inner collar to get mine to fit. Also my slide joint got stuck into the arm and was seized in place by the powder coat. Just stick a long bar through it and beat it like it owes you money till it comes out if yours doesn't come out by hand.

i've been getting some metal to metal rubbing noises lately.. can't hear it at highway speeds.

So I just got an email from the KHC peeps. They had a truck come in with my same problem. According to them they just found out that Ford has a slight casting variation in the diff housing. Not sure if its either thickness (which would push the cradle tab higher) or a length thing. Hopefully they can pop in here and clarify for everyone.

With that being said though I think it's going to be luck of the draw if anyone else is going to run into issues without modification. So if you haven't installed it yet just cut the bracket!!!

So, I am waiting for mine to be delivered since 1/23/20 order date and I am wonder if the delay is they are modifying this unit.

Don't know as Dave hasn't very responsive to the issue people are having with his product.

I haven't installed mine yet and if they are making modifications to resolve this issue then it would be nice if they would allow folks that spent their money on his product to return the item that needs modifying since it will also need to be powder coated again.

Dave are you there?
