Get your mind out of the gutter. I think most of us here are passionate about our vehicles and can immediately sense when something is amiss. I know I can.

I can't count how many times over the years I'd get in my wife's or kids' cars to drive momentarily and feel something that wasn't right and say hey, didn't you notice that rattle, shake, noise, whatever? And they'd be like, huh?

My 2019 Raptor has been great thus far. It's got almost 25k miles, did a almost 7k rt from NY to Moab this past August. I love it.

Now, however, I'm beginning to feel a weird sensation through the steering wheel. I'm no mechanic, but I do know when something feels out of the ordinary. It's almost as if I can feel, I don't want to say a vibration like an out of balance tire/wheel, or having anything to do with braking.

It's more as if I'm feeling the mechanical workings of the steering rack, if it even has rack and pinion any more. I don't know.

It's very hard to describe but I can feel something, almost as if you put your hand against a small electric motor and felt it working.

Any ideas or clue? Has anything like this been reported before?

Thank you.

And no, it's not @Oldfart vibrator.

are you in 4A or 2H when you are getting this sensation?
were tires rotated recently? Pressure within spec? Don’t rely on TPMS for this, just in case.
does it change when you vary the steering wheel feel via the button on the wheel itself?
Isn’t this also one of the telltale signs of an IWE issue too (I’m asking)?
- listen for the faint ‘grinding’ like sound that comes and goes in 2h.

that’s all that comes to mind for me [that’s fit to print on a family oriented website like FRF]

2H. Tires are at about 38 all around. Haven’t checked feel with different setting of steering. Will do. Tires supposedly rotated at each oil
Change and I’ve had about 5 so far.

what is iwe?

Ford's Integrated Wheel End (IWE) system is what locks and unlocks the front hubs when you change back and forth from 2WD and 4WD.

The IWE system consists of a vacuum reservoir, IWE vacuum solenoid, IWE hubs, vacuum hoses and a check valve. The IWE hubs engage the front wheel hubs to the front axle shafts or disengage them when the 4WD mode is turned off.

Lane departure warning vibration?
Funny you should say that, because when I picked up my first raptor in 2017, this one is a 2019, I felt that crazy vibration from the lane departure warning and thought there was a major problem as I drove home. Thank you, but no, I never use that. And it’s much more of a mild feeling than that

At 25k miles, even with rotations, you could be getting just a hint of uneven tire wear causing this very light and exquisite sensation. Or with tread wear getting lower u could just be getting a smidge more road feel. Not saying go buy new tires, but would be curious to see if u still felt it with new rubber!

I definitely feel a little more road surface in the steering wheel, with 29,000 miles on the tires. Not something anyone else would notice, but just different than when it was new. I am sure it is the tires.
