Just got off the phone with my local service advisor who told me the latest TSB on this states that some noise from cam phasers for the first couple seconds on a cold startup is a normal condition and they would not recommend replacing unless the noise lasts longer in duration.

Anyone else hearing this?
That's a load of horseshit. Go to another dealer, it is NOT normal. The fricken TSB says that noise on startup needs to be repaired under warranty and the dealer is saying the noise on startup is normal? Throw a printed copy of the TSB at them.

It is weird that some dealers know exactly what it is and some dealers give an excuse. I don't understand as any worked performed is reimbursed by mother Ford. So why not say yes, we will fix it?

He knew exactly what it was. Said two guys there at the shop have the same thing. He told me it’s only noise and won’t do damage so he’d recommend I wait until closer to the end of my warranty.

This place has great service reviews so I’m going to take it up there this week and get a different advisor.

2018 Raptor - Anyone have an issue with truck downshifting from 10th to about 5th running at 80 mph? Truck in the shop and they cannot get it to duplicate. Felt like the transmission was going to drop out of the bottom!

you are posting this in a section for a particular engine issue. I think it will get missed. Please consider posting this elsewhere.

Not for nothing, but I was walking by a newer honda suv this morning when the owner fired it up. Made the infamous sound for a few seconds. The driver, none the wiser, just drove off like nothing was wrong. Poor bastard.

The other day as I walking to my truck in the Walmart parking lot some guy fired up his new-ish Silverado and I heard a rattling noise. I laughed and thought damn I don't think those have cam phasers but it sounds like it does.
