I get that. Sorry if it wasn’t clear. What I’m wondering is if the noise is actually hurting anything.

As far as I know it doesn't create any performance concerns, it appears the TSB was released under the premise of Noise/Vibration/Harshness (NVH) since the bulletin doesn't have the dealer replace any of the components, only add a spring washer kit to dampen the connection and eliminate the noise.

That’s what I thought. Thanks.

I’m personally not concerned that a pickup makes a bit of noise when it’s cold. I’d probably worry more if it didn’t. Mine stops within 10-30 seconds even when it’s super cold out.

Mine has done the same for 3 years. I have had zero problems and it runs great so I dont even worry about

Update...

So it's been two weeks and I finally heard from the dealership today. They called and told me they noticed the bad rattling at startup is also related to the cam phasers needed to be replaced...which is what many of you suggested on here. Two weeks and they finally told me now. So a rebuilt trans and cam phasers and they said "hopefully" I will have it back in a week, making it 3 weeks best-case.

That's a hell of a lot of work for a truck I've owned for less than two months.

good luck with the repair. frustrating, I know, but better to have this done with now, than to discover some problems like this unexpectedly and being stranded.

Did the Ford service department separate the cab from the chassis to make the repairs?

Not sure but guess what...truck is still in the shop. They were "done" two weeks ago, so they told me to drive it around for a week then bring it back in after a week so they can make sure there are no leaks and whatnot.

I test drove it and realized that the shifter is kind of loose, the truck still sometimes bucks a little when changing gears ans the brakes are still so bad - the whole truck rattles when I brake at anything above 30mph. Brought it back in over a week ago and now they've replaced the brakes, cut the rotors, ordered a new cable for the shifter as they told me that the cable in there was bad, have to replace another cam phaser as one they put in is "faulty", the stereo they said is having issues so are replacing the head unit. It just doesn't end it's crazy. A truck that I purchased on;y a few months back...sucks...
