Banks who did that whole redesign on diff covers highly recommends AMSOIL because they tested other brands and it performed the best plus had better data than others to back it up.

AMSOIL already has the friction modifier compounds in the gear oil.

Just got a new Spicer Rear diff cover and putting Amsoil 75w-140 in it.
May wait to change it until after my next trip to socal on 4/19 as I just changed the rear diff about 8k ago. I used RP when I refilled it not sure why? so I would like to get another 1 to 2K out of it before I swap the cover and fluid.

The spicer/ford performance looks like a good route...that being said I do like the looks and design of the Ballistic Fab dif cover. Any deals out in internet land for amsoil?

probably only deal is to become a preferred member on Amsoil like $20.00 for the year? You can save that with a purchase or two. I have a warehouse in town I can pick up from to save the shipping but has now closed to public until the virus fiasco is cleared up.

I have used Mobil 1 for years in my Jeeps and Bronco, but they changed it a few years ago to be more competitive...M1 is now a group III hydrocracked synthetic like Castrol Syntec and others (not really a synthetic base oil, just way more refined that organic oil). In the Raptor I use Amsoil, as it still is a true Group IV synthetic oil.
You can tell which synthetics are Group III vs. IV if you look at the MSDS sheets, look at the flash points, the Group IV and V have 200 more degrees of flash point over the Group III and below.

guys I have a few you tube channels you need to check out the 1st is "project farm" this guy does testing himself and he sends out samples to get all the techno numbers, he did a comparison on most synthetic oils, froze them, heated them up, can't really explain but good to watch, he did all the big names and there were a few surprise front runners and bottom runners, just as an example amsoil, pensoil, redline, royal purple, mobil one and a bunch more, I bust the bubble by saying amsoil won, 2nd was pensoil, the other is "keep it dirty" this guy lives out west, runs the crap out of his truck, has all kinds of upgrade videos from led license plate lights to front and rear suspension, fluid changes, and I am glad I watched the oil change because he didn't take skid plate off and oil went every where LOL. he has a video on diff cover, he put in 75w-110 amsoil, 140 for heavy towing, also mentioned spicer cover but also said this cover might void your warrantee if they want to be *****, even though it is made by dana also just the tag is different, found the ford version for $208, spicer was $140, didn't take the chance and bought the ford version, also remember the new cover almost takes 4 quarts, original was 2.7

Frank R,
Watched a few of those, pretty interesting. I think if I waited 25k miles to change my oil my father would come out of his grave and slap me! Not that anyone is doing that. I us RP and am satisfied.

I use the Extended Performance Mobil 1 much better results than the regular Mobil 1 in my oil catch can!!!

Good to know. I currently use Mobil 1, but will try the Extended Performance with my next oil change.

Thanks!
