So, besides dealing with the Bubonic Plague, My truck was stolen 5 weeks ago. I settled with my insurance for a very fair price.
Shortly after settling, I get a call from from an out of town cop ...they caught the guy and my truck
I viewed the the truck at the tow yard
Scratches around and in the bed
He smoked in it
He took the emblems off the gate
Shit everywhere inside and out
He put 4 k miles on it
I was shocked, at how little my insurance is asking from me to buy it back as salvage title
The truck is 2 hours from me, I'm going to try to get it to a Ford dealer in that area to check it out mechanically .
A lot of paperwork nightmares, but if it checks out I'm all over it. 2018 Scab 15 k miles ( now )

Are you gaining enough of a difference to pay for repairs and make up for a devalued truck? I'd probably move on but that's me.

What method did the thief use to steal it? I would buy it back if you had a good amount of mods on it. If it’s stock I’d let it go.

You can be 100% positive that he drove it like he stole it, no pun intended. I would re-purchase the truck though if they are selling it for $25k. A professional detail and then I would flip it. I wonder if the factory warranty would still be good to go.

With Ford, the warranty is voided in the event of a total loss or salvage title. From the warranty manual...

Other Items or Conditions Not Covered

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover:

• vehicles that have ever been labeled or branded as dismantled, fire, flood, junk, rebuilt, reconstructed, or salvaged; this will void the New Vehicle Limited Warranty

• vehicles that have been determined to be a total loss by an insurance company; this will void the New Vehicle Limited Warranty
