Hey guys new here. I did my best to look for an existing thread regarding this issue but came up short.

I have a 2020 and now slightly above 2K miles. Last week I started seeing the wrench and 4X4 malfunction pop up and go away. Fast forward to today while in the highway in 10th gear at around 50mph the same lights appeared followed by a high speed grinding noise which went away while I was slowing down and a large clunk. I am obviously taking it to the dealer but wondering if anyone has seen this and also some guidance on what I should be expecting to get replaced. I would hate for them to tell me it’s a programming or electrical issue that’s been resolved and end up with severe wear on whatever was grinding.

To Clarify, I was in 4X2, have not used 4X4.

The front hubs engage when you go into 4-wheel drive. The mechanisms works via vacuum. So if your vacuum is faulty then the truck will slip into 4-wheel drive. The grinding noise you hear is the IWE trying to engage. take it to a dealer and tell them to check the IWE. They will know what to do.
