So in my planning for my light additions to my future truck, it crossed my mind that there are 6 auxiliary switches. It has been pointed out that just with my lights, I'll need an additional switch panel (see link). So I'm wonder, while planning, how many and what do people use the auxiliary switches for? A winch is all I can think of. Retractable tonneau cover? Auto tailgate? Educate me. Thanks

Personally I couldn’t use more than about 3 for lights. At that point, I’d wire multiple to one switch. I’ve also never seen a winch driven off the aux switches.

I have seen onboard air compressors and the mirror spot lights wired in.

I’m planning to use one switch to connect my BD lights to the brights so they will all go on and off together. If there is a car in oncoming, the auto brights will shutoff my BD’s as well. I can put up a wiring schematic once I get it done if people are interested.

OK, train horn? I didn't even know I needed one. Fess up with details.

Each aux switch has a differnt amp rating. 1&2 are 15a 3&4 are 10a 5&6 are 5a. I used 4-6 for fog/flood/spot set up in front bumper. Saving the higher amp's for future acc that might pull more amp's. Unless you are going full baja, then i don't think you would need more than 6 switches, but i have seen some crazy light setups on these trucks.

Don't forget that with a simple relay (albeit a big one) you could turn everything on and off in your truck with one switch. The load needs to be calculated to make sure you don't fry anything, but I agree with the other comments, except for desired combinations of lights, the number of switches is pretty good.

I wired one switch to a Evil third brake light, with 3 BD Pro's in amber that are for warning to the rear. They are controlled with an LED solid state flasher. That way If you are on or near the race line at the Baja races you will be seen!

Just an idea? Have fun with the train horn!

I am thinking about using 4 for my BD SAE wide cornering outer most fog lights, then 5 for my BD PRO inner spots and Pro center Combo lights.

Then UPL switch 6 for BD rear S1 backup lights.

The 3rd UPL switch is for either my Rigid D Series or BD XL 80 for my pillar lights.

Leaving me 1 - 2 switch. 1 probably for a grill light and one maybe for either a compressor or a winch.

If I need more switches, three can be used in that skinny are next to the shifter. I believe Specialty Performance Parts.

Rock lights, train horn, Evil third brake light, roof top light.
