dealership oil change issue (formally titled disaster)

So I had my first oil change on my new 2020 raptor. I went full synthetic and to a very reputable dealership.

everything went great, people were nice quick and easy no problem.

Then I was drive 3 days later on the highway and heard a really weird wind noise, almost like the wind was blowing really hard. I pulled over at a rest stop and checked under and round my truck Nothing seemed out of place.

I kept driving 4-5 miles down the road at 75mph I heard and felt a metal piece let go and bounce along the road and the underneath of my truck. I then saw a metal piece fly out behind me under my truck. I pulled over and could not tell what it was, I looked everywhere but did not crawl under my truck on the I-495.
Now as I am driving the wind noise is gone, when I got home I looked and the dealership must not have screwed the oil drain access slid plate down well enough, it was gone no screws just the nut locks.

WTF!!!

Also had oil all down the under neither of may truck, I check the dipstick and it reads normal, I wonder what the **** happened. I have appt with the service manager tomorrow. I am not a happy camper.

Do your own oil changes. No cares about your truck except you. BTW ... most dealerships has the least experience tech on oil changes.

Ironic ... the most important service you can do to a vehicle performed by the least experienced mechanic.

Yes agreed but in the middle of building a shop and my work is having covid19 crisis mode, so wanted to get the first change done at 2500 miles.

If this is your standard of a disaster, you must be one of the ones responsible for the TP shortage.

Here's what happened. They didn't torque the access plate.... That's it. Yeah, they ****** up on that, but easily fixed.

Oil tends to spill onto the pan and surrounding areas sometimes when you change the oil, so I wouldn't be concerned with seeing some residue especially if your dip stick reads normal.

Humans make mistakes. Minor. At least they put the drain plug back in.

Fair enough, disaster is a strong word, but figured it would get people to read the post. I have not bought any TP, nor am I hoarding anything.

Just seems like it should take more than 80 miles of driving for all bolt to become loose and fall out?

When I say it sprayed I mean it looked like I drove through a puddle on the right side. Its covered the under neither if my truck not just near the oil drain and it sprayed all the way to the right exhaust tip. Seems like alot of mess, but go to know you think its ok.

Agree mistakes happen, but it letting loose at 75mph and flying out behind me was alittle unnerving. Just glad it did not hit anyone's car.

Good point. Go check your lug nuts!

If there was that much oil "spraying" out I would at LEAST put a wrench on the drain plug and a hand on the oil filter
