Wait. I thought it was just me not doing something correct. So I'm not crazy? Was wondering why the HVAC wasn't in balance with outside like my old 12 F250. That one worked like a champ everytime. seats and vents were always on. Now, raptor sometimes puts on aircon seats when it's in the 50's (cold for us here in So Cal LOL )

So, ADY, there's an update for this along with a replacement? i have an 18 built it 17 :|

Can someone please explain the complaint?

The outside temperature on the info screen doesn't change as it gets hotter outside?

Only when doing low speeds or stationary?

So if you turn on your car at 7 am and its 75 F, if you don't go over 30 mph or its stationary, it'll keep showing 75 f?

Apparently the front sensor does not start taking readings and averaging them until you start moving and getting air moving past it. Being stationary will influence the sensor from the ground and the vehicle since the engine compartment is located right behind it along with the radiator. So sitting idling will potentially read hotter than it really is.
That’s my interpretation, guys am I close?

That is exactly why. It will drop immediately to account for sudden temp drops, but increases take time to avoid being affected by the engine. If the temp display says it's 38 degrees outside, people will complain when they slide off a road that is covered in ice because it's really 28 degrees.

The "slow rise" was not an issue until Ford started using it as a determinant in the functioning of the HVAC. Tell you what Ford- screw the outside stuff altogether. If I put it to 80, give me 80 degree air. If I put it on 55, give me 55 degree air. Simple enough.

it would still need to know ambient to know where the blend door needs to be to get the desired temperature. I personally don’t want a constant 80 degree air temp of I set it to 80. I want the cabin to be 80 and the hvac to adjust accordingly to keep it at 80. Otherwise you’re constantly fiddling with it to get the cabin to the proper temp.

Wait, you guys saying this influences the hvac 100% of time? I thought it was only for remote starts. There’s a sensor inside the cabin for keeping cabin temperature..? Therefore too warm or cold would blend or adjust accordingly.

Temp sensor is messed up

The temp sensor is not messed up. These trucks are designed to work this way, same as many other vehicles. it's just a bit stupid.

it seems that some here don't quite understand that these vehicles are made to function in a specific manner based on not only the outside temperature but also the temperature that the climate control is set to. Two totally different things.

just so happens that when the outside thermometer functions as it does it can become an issue.

Want to test it?

start your truck in the cool morning. run it but do not drive it. make a note of the temperature.

leave it all day until the temperature changes (at least 10 degrees is best) outside.
start your truck up, but do not drive it. Bet that temperature for the outside gauge stays at what it was, no matter how long it sits and runs.

pretty simple demonstration that these were designed for the outside thermometer to engage only after being driven at x speed for x amount of seconds.

usually not an issue unless you drive to work. then use your truck for work all day at a very low speed, then drive back home much later in the day after the temperature has changed a bit. (like it does in san antonio).

just yesterday I go to work and it's 37 out. was 67 when I left work. temp gauge stayed at 37 all day until the drive home.
