ARE DEAVER LEAF SPRINGS worth it ?

I ordered the L84HD Deavers. I have never blogged, met, or discussed with a single Gen II Raptor Owner that had Deavers where they did not say that the Deavers weren't the very best mod they ever made. I pulled the trigger. If you don't put anything in the back (payload) and you don't tow ever, keep the stock springs and live with the Driver's Side sag of 3/4" over the Pass Side. I think that is horrible that the Raptors sag that much on the Drivers Side Rear with no one sitting in the truck. Mine has done that since Day 1. That just goes to tell you how soft the stock springs are. And as they age, they will sag even more. The problem is, I ordered the Deavers Dec 6th from RPG, and still have yet to receive them. WTF?!?!?

So I have a 2020 on order should get it by mid February hopefully . I called a local speed shop on Long Island where I live about what it would cost to install a set of deavers. His words to me was “there’s nothing wrong with the stock leaves your wasting your money I have many customers with Raptors and none of them have any complaints about the stock leaves. And he’s like hey we’re a custom suspension shop I should be trying to sell you something but I really don’t think you need them. Don’t believe what you read on the internet it’s bs. Don’t believe the hype. These were his words so now I’m totally confused on whether to order them or not. Anyone have some thoughts for me?


Doesn’t make sense. Look at the difference between the 2 parts first of all. Besides that- play devils advocate for a second- if a F150 sport pulled up to the shop & was like “I want to get a little better offroad ability & some more ground clearance was thinking of adding the raptor fox shocks” is this same owner gonna look at the standard F150 shocks & be like “nahh bro your fine those factory shocks are great”

I bought into the hype. Just installed mine Sunday. The hype was totally right. I went with the +3HD. I have the rpg recovery bed rack with two spares and the SVC bump stop kit with king bumps and I sit an inch higher in the back with that stuff in it. I like the rake and the ride is way better.

I never got deavers on my 14. I got +3 on my 18 and it’s a big difference for me. My truck now tracks straight on studder bumps and bridge expansion joints. It it 100% necessary NO, am I happy with the upgrade? YES! Remember you need to get bumpstops when running deavers.

I think they are worth it. Had Deaver +3 HD's on the Gen 1 and got the +4 HD's on the Gen 2 along with Eibachs in the front. The ride is just as smooth on the highway and A LOT smoother over bumps. They also make a big difference off-road or on accelerating over rough terrain and the rear doesn't sag when you load up the bed with gear.

I did not do hydraulic bump stops this time around. I got the SDHQ bump pads instead since I'm not over-driving it off-road. Did some jumps in Big Bend last week going 70mph and it was nice and soft!

Just decide on which arch level depending on how much weight you have in the bed.

I also went to a large off-road shop by my house and they told me Deavers were not needed on a Raptor. All they build are lifted trucks (with giant blocks under the leafs) and they obviously had no clue how Raptors benefit from removing the rear blocks completely. I thanked them for their time and walked out shaking my head.

Deavers are hands-down the best suspension mod you can do for your truck. But do not believe the hundreds of real Raptor owners who have them on this forum. Go to a Raptor performance shop in your area and ask them to take you on a test drive of a truck with them installed. That is what I did and I ordered mine the next day.

Hands down the best performing suspension mod you can add to your truck. The only downside is additional sag when towing or hauling. But that's it. This can be mitigated by the HD vs SD springs.

So I too have been considering ordering Deavers, but, will they void your warranty in any way? Especially since Ford seems to like to look for things to void it.

Is it possible to add a leaf if you get the standard +3 and want to stiffen it up to an HD?
