What is Paint Correction and Ceramic Coating?

I chose to do ceramic coating on my raptor for ease of cleaning. I get a lot of mud etc from having fun in it, and it’s nice when I’m done to get the pressure washer out and just rinse it off. I’ll give it a wash every other week using CarPro reset wash soap. And then usually once a month I use a concoction called blue juice that increases the gloss of the ceramic coating. It’s 1 oz CarPro ech20 and about 2-3 oz of CarPro reload mixed into a 30 ml spray bottle and then I add distilled water to the top and shake well before using. Water spots from sprinkler systems and also bird droppings can leave marks in the ceramic coating and if that happens it would more than likely need to be compounded off and the ceramic coating reapplied. For me it has been worth every penny. Waxing was tiresome on my other car and this has saved me so much time.

The benefits of a Ceramic Coating have been discussed, but the role of Paint Correction should be clarified.

Paint Correction is the use of power tools and pads/polishes that are abrasive to remove a layer of clear coat. The purpose of this Paint Correction process is to remove visible scratches or marring in the clear coat, but this also removes micro scratches and oxidation in the clear coat which are not individually visible, but result in a dulling of the appearance of the paint. Removing these micro scratches and oxidation in the clear coat results in shinier, deeper looking paint.

Since Ceramic Coatings typically last years, the intent of the Paint Correction is to improve the appearance of the paint before coating it.

On a new vehicle the importance of Paint Correcting is less than on a vehicle that is a year old or more. Polishing paint that is not new allows the Ceramic Coating to get the best bond to a fresh surface of clear coat, as opposed to clear coat that has been exposed to the elements.

Go to Autogeek get opti guard from optimum technology. See utube how too. Simple not too expensive diy. Lasts a long time dirt doesn’t stick always looks good. Follow up now and then with opti seal. I’ve had great results and I know every inch my truck. Had fun doing it yoo

I'm with you. Let me know what you find. Sounds like we'll be crossing paths at some point. Maybe at In-n-Out. Not the WhataWTFBurger. OK, Whata is pretty decent. Just grew up with In-n-Out.

For PPF, you'll get the most bang for your buck doing a full front end + rocker panels + B pillars (those swirl if you look at them and it drives me crazy). I did a 5 year Feynlab ceramic coating to all painted surfaces, wheels, shocks, after the PPF was installed. All in you're looking about $3500 for that job, call it $600 for stage two prep, $2000 for PPF, $900 for ceramic coating.

@rbraptor @911 Crazy let me you if you make it out this way. I'll probably be at a local starbucks seeing if my truck can clear the drive through height lol.

I enjoy the detailing process and have several shelves worth of really good products, plus a good random orbital. You can do the ceramic coating yourself, you will need another vehicle to get around in while this stuff cures. CC lasts so long you could probably just do one panel at a time until the whole thing is done.

Haven't done mine but I keep so much sealant on it that nothing sticks anyway.

Where'd you get yours done? That and cost? Looks like we are both in SRQ area, and I'm definitely interested.

I got mine done at Eco Care Detailing off Clark road. They are also Ceramic Pro Sarasota. Their facility is top notch. The full coverage with lifetime warranty was $1999. Jay was who I was dealing with. Great guy, super helpful. They were doing quite a few Ferrari and Lamborghini when I dropped mine off so I felt they were legit. Dropped it off for about 5 days and the results were amazing. Couldn’t be happier.
