I have a 2011 GEN1 and the backup camera failed at 85,000 miles early this year. The first symptom was that the guidelines went away, and no amount of resetting it or temporarily unplugging the battery would bring them back. Took it to the dealer, they fiddled with it, and declared that the camera had to be replaced. It wouldn't work at all after that. They got the parts in after about a week, and the fix cost $478.77 for the camera assembly, $42.44 for the Ford emblem (it's sacrificial), and $240.00 for labor. Total: $761.21.

Ouch! I just ordered one and $231 all in. Its about a 10 minute install. Lot's of info on this on the web. Glad to hear it was fixed but the dealer didn't even spit on it for ya...
