Hello All,
I have been creeping around the forum for awhile. Located in Minnesota. Raptors have been my dream vehicle since they released. Getting to the point of getting rid of my beater car and started looking at used gen1 to my surprise are within my budget. What would be your recommendations? My budget is looking to be around 35k tops with hopes of going below that if possible. How many miles is too many to consider?

35K can buy you a nice one.. look for a 13-14 if possible. also budget for shock rebuild, and or replacement as they only last for 40K miles and most of the time traded in ones need a rebuild. 13-14 have frame reinforced, HID projectors, torson front diff, and upgraded tech. Motors are strong. look for Rust, especially in sills and cab corners. make sure 4x4 works and isn't making noise, as the system has a few easy to fix issues.

Well, you already won half the battle since you decided on a Gen 1...LOL...I've hd my 2014 for a year and never looked back..LOVE IT......just dont settle for someone else's headache....if you do your homework and are not in a hurry there are some nice "Mint" ones out there....I paid more for mine than your budget since its a "Shelby" w/Supercharger...but I've seen some really nice 2014 in your price range...I'd go with the 2014,since from what I've heard on the forum, they had more of the kinks out opposed to the 2012....
Take your time, and for sure get an independent shop to do a PPI on it before you buy...
Good luck...!

Been there and done the exact same thing. Picked up a ‘14 for 35.2k OTD with 93k on the clock. PPI checked out.

Did need shock rebuild, got new(ish) tires, new brakes. Between those I’ve spent $1,700 but I found some deals on here along the way to get there.

I am the MFNG, so I don’t know much much, other than I know that I know nothing. Happy to help if you have any questions though.

Thank you for the reply’s. What would you say is a good place to start mileage wise? I want to keep this truck into it won’t go anymore. Would say 120k be too many?

Having done this exact search myself I would say the ancillary things will be the value factor.

if I could have got one with relatively more miles on it that didn’t need shocks, tires, brakes, and soon a spark plug change, I would have happily paid more for the convenience.

In my experience the PPI will be the determining factor. Better to pay more for a quality vehicle and make the fixes in all due time than grab one that’s here now and needs a hundred things.

These trucks are great but they are not cheap, especially to fix. Buy a Gen 2? Too Soon? ;)

I did the same thing a little over a year ago. Purchased a mint '12 Screw for $30k out the door (including tax/license) with 80k. The only thing it needed was the shock rebuild.
