So I got around to installing the Decked system today. All in all a very fine product. For now I'm just storing my recovery gear in there but I've got some customization ideas that I'm going to try out with this at some point. There are a few things I didn't care for and some installation thoughts for y'all to consider if you get one for yourself.

The first challenge is that Decked accidentally sent me two of the same cab side mounting brackets. These are specific to the driver and passenger side and I ended up with two passenger side. I brought this to Decked's attention on Monday and had a replacement part by Friday. In addition to the Decked system I ordered the Core Trax Full-Size cargo tracks. These are supposed to come with four attachment loops but it looks like Decked didn't pack them OR they got out of the box during shipping. As you can tell from my first post, the box was open when I got it. I've contacted Decked and I'm sure it will get resolved.

One thing I don't care for is that the decked sits closer to the driver side than the passenger side of the truck which leave a pretty good sized gap on the passenger side. I'm going to look to see if there is any way to alter the alignment but it seems to be dictated by those front mounting brackets. That said, I haven't had a chance to play with it yet. Even if I get it even on both sides, I think I'll put something in the gaps to prevent small items from getting trapped in there.

Speaking of gaps, there is a very large one between the back edge of the Deck and the closed tailgate. Unsecured items are likely to fall in there. It would seem to me that Deck could have minded the gap here but their engineering on this is pretty good so maybe there's something I'm not seeing there.

During installation, the cab side ammo boxes are interchangeable from driver or passenger side. However the tailgate ammo boxes are driver/passenger specific. Make sure you get those right. The axle mounts for the drawer wheels are on those ammo boxes and they MUST be facing the center of the truck. It is VERY easy to make them face outboard and you won't notice it until you try to put the wheels on. Yes, I did this.. DOH!!

The ammo box covers are specific to each corner. It's easy to get them mixed up but it's just as easy to move them into the right position. However they are VERY loose if you get it wrong so they could bounce out when driving. So make sure you've got them in the right place. On the cool side, you can flip the lids over and you've got cup holders.. It's a very well thought out product IMO.

As you can see, the drawers are more than long enough for my MaxTrax boards. My plan is to put an air mattress on top of this thing and get a bed tent for camping. However the truck bed isn't long enough for me so I'm going to build some sort of extension that can go at the end of the deck and over the tailgate. That may be my first mod.

All that said, AMA...

They’re not lockable but
Looks nice. Are the drawers lockable?

They’re not lockable but you can buy locks for them. The tailgate locks though so you shouldn’t have to worry about locking the actual box. I have one in my truck that hold all my work equipment and it stays pretty safe in there.

Correct. I’m planning to eventually buy the locks for them but I want to look into getting this lock cylinder from Bolt that lets you use your Ford key to unlock it. It’s a standard sized cylinder so it might be interchangeable with the lock Decked sells.

How does your cell booster antenna perform inside there? I have mine on a rack above the cap just to get more unobstructed height, but a lower profile inside mount is attractive.
