I know people taken off and painted their vents before, but I'm wondering if anyone has gone and painted the vents to match the OEM fenders?

I made a few cosmetic changes to the truck over the weekend. Most notably, I painted the wheel beauty rings ruby red (close enough anyway) to match some Rappygrahics I already had. I also painted the skid plate flat black, and removed the OEM bedside graphics. However it bothers me that the black vents don't show up on a black truck. I considered painting them the same ruby red, but I feel it could be a bit too much. However, I think the grey/black of the fenders and other trim may be the right color to make the vents visible but not stand out too much.

I would leave them black, but that is just me. I saw a Raptor with different colored vents and it looked odd because it really made them standout. Black items on non-black trucks do not standout as much because there is a lot of black trim on the truck already.

Yea, I see your point and agree to an extent, but as I said before, also not crazy about having vents that you can't really see. I need to see how much the vents cost. Maybe I can try it out while having the original black to fall back on if it doesn't work out.

I think I'd go with a red accent strip on the end of each vent edge opening.

Rough workup but you get the idea.

Here is something I did on my black Gen 1. I did not paint the vents, but I removed them and put red reflective tape behind the vent so the "SVT" cutout could be seen. On non-black trucks, the body color was enough contrast to make it readable. It was an easy and inexpensive mod that looked really good at night when the lights from cars would illuminate the letters...

I am not sure if it will look right on the Gen 2 because the angle of the cutouts do not show the body of the truck, but it might be worth a shot to give you some red without being over the top.
