Hey everyone, looking for opinions on this engine noise... I noticed it the other day when I started my car and as I walked to it, I felt like it was really loud...Drove off, everything is running fine. Started it the next day, same sound. Almost sounds like could be the heads, or just the fan belts? Is this what everyones sounds like at idle? Thanks for your help! Video attached!

The direct injectors are noisy on start up. When cold hard to tell in that vid.

Sounds like my old diesel. I know some have found thats its the wastegate. Not the cam phasers making that noise.

If I heard that on my f250 I would think it was the lifters. My 20 raptor has a harsher sound in the morning but not that loud. I’ll check with hood up

Thanks for all the input so far, I’m taking it in Thursday for my 30k mile maintenance check up.

I will note this is me running 87octane, since posting this I’ve switched to 93 and I feel like it’s slightly less noticeable, but still there. I will post new video in the morning to see if there’s any difference.

I've noticed mine making some similar noises on really cold mornings. Well, cold for this area, 30's-40's. Seems like one of the times, I had left it idling for quite a while. They didn't seem as loud, but I didn't open the hood and take a listen, just figured it was some injector programming to get the cats to heat up.
Does it do it after it's warmed up?

That is what mine sounded like after I let the phasers go a few months. I think phasers.

So its been a few days..since uploading this, I've switched to 93 octane. As you can hear in the video the sound is a lot more quiet. I did read that people were seeing their trucks run "more harsh" on 87. Both videos were taken after the truck warmed up.
