Have an occasional delay when i turn the key on I think the starter is going out. I can get a new Motorcraft "Aftermarket Design" from Rock Auto for the same price as a rebuilt from Tasca or Ford Parts giant. Saves me from shipping the core back but probably will cost more to ship the core than the $25.00 core charge.

Does anyone know or have used the Aftermarket Design Starter and is one preferred over the other?

Ford can be particular with parts. I always use motor craft parts now. When I was younger I would try to save a few bucks but the parts rarely lasted as long or would cause other problems. Now i don’t feel the savings are worth it IMHO.

They are both Motorcraft parts with 24 month warranty just not sure what a “Aftermarket Design “ is.

New is always better than reman/rebuilt. With electrical parts I always go with new. Starters are an inconvenience to change especially in cold or bad weather.

Poking fun at myself really.

Not knocking the OP....but man....how far have we come.......i cringe when i read this.......have not had a turn key car in almost 10 years now....it seems so old school.

We are doomed as a society. Soon we will complain about having to wipe our own back side.

Really no price difference with the core charge as I will have to eat it as it will cost more to ship it back than I would get back.

I guess you should stay out of the Gen 1 forum. As were such Neanderthals with our key ignition trucks.
