Always loved the Raptors..finally have a 2014 Crew Cab.....Amazing!!
First Question though...is it normal for the front end to Dance or Bounce around hitting ruts around town?
I have to grab the steering wheel and pull her away from oncoming traffic.....HELP PLEASE!!!

Have a 2014 myself that the steering wheel wants to hop right when I hit large bumps or unavoidable potholes/sewer lids.

Been trying to figure it out with no avail. I think the below may be close as I’ve had it aligned twice after new tires. I do have a leaky front right Shock but I don’t think that would cause the constant pulling/hopping.

Couldn’t agree more. The slight pull to the right after multiple alignments is driving me crazy.

Is it the weight in the back; the front end accident - a frame issue; tire defect/wear/balance; road crown; leaking shock?

Too many variables at once.


Have you looked into if your steering knuckle is bent or if a LCA pocket is bent?

I know that I have read on here that some have had alignment issues that they eventually noticed were a bent knuckle.

I have not really looked for or found anything formation on how the alignment is set on our trucks, but thinking it through I have arrived on a few conclusions.

Our upper control arms offer no adjustment. The LCA’s have and inboard/outboard adjustment. This would allow camber adjustment as well as castor if one pocket was adjusted independently of the other. A bent knuckle would throw a wrench in that.

If caster is adjusted otherwise all bets are off.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for everyone’s reply...I have resolved to take her to the dealer and ask their review and advice...will let you know their findings...thanks again!

Make sure to ask around there for the guy who knows the most about Raptors. The service manager at the dealer near me said to me that I knew more about them than anyone they had there, and I don’t know shit!

a blown shock can absolutely cause that.

Just in case its a blown shocks..does anyone have recommendations as to where is a good shop/place to get them rebuilt?

before you go rebuilding shocks, there are a lot of other things to rule out. tie rod ends, bushings, etc.

and in the case of the shocks, you may want to consider some 3.0s or find a set of shocks that have already been rebuilt. I'm guessing you do not want to have the truck on jack stands for a couple of weeks while your shocks are sent out for a rebuild.

I asked about tie rods, etc when I had it aligned the second time. Someone here mentioned the LCA being adjustable and that it being out could be the problem, but I didn’t ask them to check that the last time. It’s tough to find someone around me that knows these trucks unfortunately.

I found a used set of OEM shocks on here and had TSW rebuild them. Waiting out the winter/salt to put them on. Hopefully between the two it solves it!
