Looking for pictures of Gen 1 front lower rear fender trimming of the plastic fender flares and sheet metal behind them. I have already cut, painted. undercoated, folded and re-underecoated the seams and inner fenders at all 4 corners . I RE-INSTALLED the inner fender shield and plastic fender flare but need a bit more trimming at the lower rear edge of the front fenders to get enough clearance. I am now running 37s.

I was just going to trim more and make aluminum shields to keep the mud / snow out of the recesses but maybe someone has a better idea.

Post your pics if you have them - Thanks in advance.
I'm getting my Hernia modified / slice & diced tomorrow so I might not be able to get back to this thread for a day or 2.

Thank you BigGriff - Do you have any pics of the front fenders where you trimmed - I was mostly interested in the rear lower section of the front fenders. It is clear on what I have to do but I was just hopping to see what others have done. After trimming I was going to fit sone alumnim to help keep the debris / dirt out of the chassi -
I did a few searches on this forum and didn't find any.

I have stock SVT Bead Locks with KO2s - I kept the bead locks that came with the truck even though they weigh a ton and I didn't want to make the truck any wider - 37" advertised KO2s because 95% + of my driving is street / highway. I have occasional clay / snow to contend with but not too often. The KO2s are not 37" tall more like 36" +/-

Yes I have trimmed the lower back of my front fenders, Trimmed and bent the seam welds and currently using stainless rivnuts, screws and washers to pull my fender liner back and as far up as possible. The rear is a problem I haven't contended with yet. I am still working on it - My job has been good / busy - I will know more when I finish and have tested it at full compression. I will be using adjustable front control arms to put more negative camber and caster in the front to help clear the upper fender edge.
I tried to raise each tire on the truck with a fork lift but my suspension will not compress far enough - Didn't want to flip the truck - so field testing will be the only way to be sure. I don't want to limit the rear suspension travel - Our trucks don't have enough to begin with and trimming will be necessary at full compression.
I don't know why people won't post picks of what they have done to help others. Must be a big secret. I'll post picks of do and don'ts when I finish but it will be a while.

Hello,

I have been running stock bead lock wheels and BFG AT 37's for almost 2 years with no rubbing, trimming or wheel well modification front or rear.

The front suspension is set at mid perch and the rear has Deaver +3 with a 1" lowering shackle. I also have SVC bump stops set in the middle position. These help when towing and loaded down with gear. I use my truck in the deserts and mountains of Nevada and Utah. The only thing I haven't done is a high speed jump that could possibly bottom things out.

I didn't see you mention your front suspension is set at mid perch? If not you should make that happen. My experience is with it set at mid. With the type of driving you mentioned there would be no issues. The tires may clear on the bottom perch with the trimming you have done, but I can't speak to that.

Good Luck

Any thoughts on cutting the rear flares to match the fronts?
I thought about from time to time, but was worried it would leave to much void in the rear. On top of that, there’s no need to trim the rear like there is the fronts due to no rubbing. Since then, I have gone to full Glass so no longer have the stock fenders.
