so for a 2019 model, is just the light needed to complete this or do i need a harness too?

light + harness

Some early '19 might have harness, but I would purchase both to be on the safe side so you don't have to take your console apart multiple times.

Or you can take it apart and look whether you have harness or not prior to ordering above parts.

I didn't buy the harness. I cut the plug off the light and soldered longer wires onto the existing wires. I don't have ambient lighting so I tapped into the wires that light up the lane keep assist button behind the shifter.

Does anyone look at the shifter when using it? I don’t even know if mine light up. There’s a display in front of you and also, the gears are all in the same place every time. Has any of you driven a stick shift car in the dark?

My issue was that it lit up on my last 4 F150s so I wanted it to light up on this one as well. It was only a $16 mod and took less than an hour of my time.

Fair enough. I don’t even know if mine is lighted. It’s my first truck. And only my second automatic.
