I noticed today that when the truck has been remote started the Ignition is not actually on. Looking at the Ignition feed coming from the OBDII it shows the ignition is not on when the truck has been remote started and it is running, which makes sense since the entire dash and heater controls appear off (even though the heater may be running).
I think this could be used along with 1 other input to determine it has been remote started. In a normal in-person start process you would turn on the ignition and then press the start button, but in the Remote start case the ignition is not on. So now you would only need to find 1 other wire to detect if the truck is about to be started.
Maybe you could look at the starter signal? Except where would you look? I would want to look at the starter button but I am sure that is not hot because the ECU is probably just telling the starter to crank directly.
Any idea where to look to find if the truck is being cranked? (And not at the start button?)
