When I ordered and purchased my 2017 Raptor I was aware that it was new in many ways and had a lot of technology, so when my dealer offered me a 60,000 mile extended warranty I felt it may be best. Recently, when I reached 60,000 I was very happy I got it because of the issues with transmission and engine failures that have been reported on this and other forums.
Well, I received a letter from Ford Protect that my extended warranty is up for renewal because the truck just hit 60,000mi? I thought it started at 60,000? So I called Ford Protection and they said that the warranties start at the purchase date and pretty much said I should have read the fine print. They said it is also on the brochure. I told them that I didn’t even question it because who would buy an extended warranty that runs concurrent with the factory plan and covers the same repairs! (Guess I did)
They sounded like this was a common complaint, and did not even offer a discount to purchase one now. So even though I planned ahead and paid for an extended warranty, both my warranties expired this month and I have none now.
Just want to put this out because maybe some are not aware, it is best to wait for the factory plan to expire then purchase an extended plan.
