I just did my first oil change since I installed the Fumoto valve on my Raptor the last time I did an oil change....what a game changer! I love how quick/easy/CLEAN it makes the job! However, I'm not sure if I'm using the "right" kind of hose to connect to the valve. I bought some 3/8" ID clear vinyl tubing from the local hardware store, and it worked great, but when I removed the hose from the valve, I could tell that the hose was not in the same condition as before I put it on. Much stiffer, not as flexible, etc. Granted, I paid just over $5 for 10 feet of hose, and can cut the remaining portion that I didn't use into additional sections to be used for 2 or 3 future oil changes, but it seems like there must be a better option...something that doesn't interact with the oil and change the properties of the hose/tubing. Or is this just normal, and I should throw the piece of tubing away each time? I was hoping to be able to reuse it for more than just 1 oil change.

Anyone have any recommendations? I'd prefer clear, of course, so that I know if the oil is still draining or if it's all done...

Go to any auto parts store and ask for 3/8" rubber line - they have bulk rolls of it. Used for oil lines, fuel lines, etc.

Yeah, I figured rubber would be fine...I was just hoping for something clear. Thanks!

Assuming Gen1? Have a pic of what it looks like on the pan? Planning to get one for my next oil change. I know they make a few different models now that can swivel, etc.

They make fuel rated clear line for small engine\carbs - should be able to find some at the auto parts store, oil will probably stain it over time though. Just run some alcohol through it and blast clean with a compressor before you put it away for storage.

I’ll look into that fuel rated clear line. Thanks for the info!

And no, it’s a Gen2. Here’s a pic on the pan, but if you’re asking about a Gen1, this probably isn’t what you’re looking for, I guess!

Just go to home depot. get 3/8 outside diameter hose
Mine requires 3/8" ID hose, and that's where I got my hose from. As I said, I'm looking for something that is a bit more oil resistant, though. The hose I have got pretty stiff and lost its elasticity after it was in contact with the oil. For the price, though, it might make sense just to use it and then throw it away. I'll be able to get about 3-4 oil changes out of the 10' section of hose that I bought...

that clear $3 hose i have is 3 oil changes in and shows no sign of breaking down. It is a hose draining used oil.....i care very little about it as long as the oil flows. it just hangs on my garage wall 99% of the time.

Hmm, strange...I wonder if the fact that my engine was pretty warm (it had only cooled down for 20 minutes or so) caused the hose to change properties and get less elastic. Next time I'll try it when the engine is cooler and see what happens...thanks!

I do mine when the engine is still hot as hell. Drive it, pop the hood, drop the access panels, and release the oil.

The oils flows much better when hot like that through the F valve and hose.
