Hi everyone,

After putting over 6000 miles on my ‘19 Raptor, I bring it to my local workshops to have it dyno. The target is to see how much HPs the Raptor can produce at the rear wheel. The result is surprisingly disappointed. My Raptor can only make around 230-255hps. Yes, not anywhere near 300.

My first dyno was only 230+ (Mustang Dyno). Therefore, I went to another shop and the second dyno showed 250+ (Mainline Dyno). However, I believe the difference is due to different dyno machines.

Mechanics at both places tried different methods to dyno it but it does not improve. One thing to note is that I live in Vietnam where dynos are rarely available. Both shops have just started to have dyno machines at the beginning of 2020 so dyno experience with the Raptor is close to nothing (but they do have lots of exp with other cars/trucks). The diagnosis show no errors at all so we can’t figure out why my Raptor is losing almost 100hps.

Anyone having any ideas?

Just do a 0-60 timed run. If it runs where it should then all good and the dyno’s are off. If not, take it in for a diagnostic

Could be just as you said, user error. I don’t know the first thing about dynos so understandably there’s a learning curve.

there are definitely dyno settings that can throw off numbers

are you running fuel that is at least 93 octane? Lower octane fuel will have a serious drop in power. You won't be able to see if it's pulling timing due to fuel without a proper datalog, based on your situation I highly doubt they know how to do that

If you have bad gas could be retarding everything, but that is huge loss... Maybe bad gas with some other things.

The maximum I can get in Vietnam is RON95, which is equivalent to Octane 91 in the States. The fuel quality in Vietnam is a serious issue but I still consider 100hps loss is too much.

There are actually Dyno is Vietnam?

Yes, there are a few now finally!

I tried 0-60 a few times already in different conditions and the average time is 7.4s, no where near 5-6s. When I did the dynos, the mechanics also ran full diagnosis but there are no problems/errors at all.
