It's a badge thing, people hear Roush and think it's better.
The Shelby uses the Whipple.

The Whipple's new Gen 4 compressor has the most boost at low end and especially at top end.
I've been driving my Daily Driver for 7 years now with the Whipple, no complaints.
The Whipple can't be beat.
The Roush SC is push to the limit at 675 HP and starts to become inefficient.

Since your up in colder climate for a longer time,
I would recommend doing the billet oil pump upgrade at the time of SC install.
Typically around $2,200 +/- to do both, Supercharger and Oil pump gears.

Sounds like he's rarely in the boost. It's a daily with some light off roading. Didn't sound to me like he's out to do burnouts all day, so ultimate power is not the end-all be-all here. He'd be better off with a TVS IMO. It's going to run cooler out of boost than the twin screw. The OEMs spec the TVS blowers nearly every time for that reason. If you are really throttle happy and always hitting the boost like a crack pipe- yeah, then go with the twin screw. That's what I put on my Cobra since that's exactly how it gets driven.

You really can't go wrong with either honestly. They are both great compressors that are reliable and make a crap ton of power from idle to redline. The extra heat/lack of efficiency from a twin screw out of boost compared to a roots style blower is not a huge deal either, but it does still exist.

I just bought a 14 with 39K miles to replace my 13 with 100K miles. I bought it at a Roush Dealer and am having the stage 2 Roush kit added with a full warranty. I went with Roush for reliability, and because I got a warranty with it. Roush has a good tune for drivability, as well as it has a warranty, where the Whipple can make more power, but the tunes from them are not as good, as soon as you tune with another company, no more warranty.

P.S. I am also a Porsche guy, have a 99 996 as well as a 99 986. looking to add more in the future.

You are very misinformed my friend, I suggest you start researching on this forum about Roush.

Roush's tune Sucks, so many have switch to JDM's Roush tune and all say it's night and day,
but unfortunately it's the only way you get the 3 year supplemental Roush drivetrain warranty who uses a third party warranty company.
While you can buy the Ford warranty it will NOT cover the drivetrain period...….

Drivability with the Roush Tune is not up to par as the JDM Tune.

I get it, warranty is important but your paying a premium for name sake.
Are you getting the 3 or 5 year from Roush?
Usually the Stage II requires buying two supplemental warranties from Roush

the my warranty that came with the truck will cover. however, I did my homework, and have not come across this as a big issue.. has it happened to people? perhaps.. is it a huge problem out there? Not that I can find. *shrugs*

Yes suck....

I have a factory Roush built in their shop not the dealership. The "tune" that Roush uses is a variation of a tune that was designed in-house with help from a guy named Cody Cutforth (Stang Hi) Cody learned some of the tune from Jim at JDM.

The Roush tune was built to accomplish the goal of adding the forced induction, with as little change to the base 6.2 package as possible. Instead of building fuel and timing tables to be efficient and make power, Roush chose to "send the boost" then control heat and detonation with added fuel. This makes for a not so great daily driver, and is over fueled most of the time. On top of that, the transmission is left alone with the Roush tune!!!

Give Jim @JimIII@JDM a call, he can explain this way better. And buy his tune....
Or once you get your truck, find a competent tuner that is familiar with TVS blowers on Fords and have him build you a good tune that will adjust shift points, line pressure, torque management, fuel and ignition tables. There is so much left on the table with the Roush tune, and I dont mean peak HP either.

For the record, I have over 100,000 miles on mine, supercharged since day 1. The single biggest improvement on my truck was the tune!

**** the warranty. The motor will take it, as will the trans.

Put either blower on top, let your local Ford tuner have at it on the dyno and enjoy it.
