Good Morning. We just picked up a 2014 Raptor from a local auction. It is a 2014 local truck. Only has 28,000 miles. Somebody stole the shocks, front seats, running boards and tailgate. They also took what were probably lights, wires were cut and some mounts looked like they had been used. They also tore out the door speakers! Odd, since they are so cheap from the dealer. Stole the spare and the spare carrier.

Picked up a pair of rear shocks. Looks like they might be bad. I was able to compress one side by hand. The other compressed some, but if super tight about two inches from the mounting bracket.

I got the front shocks but have some questions on installation. They have the top "brackets" included. The large angled washer like piece that goes between the shock mount and the top three shock nuts. The shocks have a valve on them.

Questions,
1. does the top bracket wedge go skinny side towards the wheel or towards the engine? Got the answer. Fat side out.
2. Does the valve on the bottom point towards the wheel or the hub?

Any install tricks or suggestions?

Truck cleaned up very nicely. It was pretty filthy from sitting at the dirt auction yard for the last 4 months. Body and paint are almost flawless. Has a few nicks and scratches underneath but looks like it was rarely taken off road. It looks like it was owned by a local person in the San Diego area. It was serviced at the local Ford Dealer in Pacific Beach. Black exterior with Black leather, interior. Supercab. Factory bead locks. No badging on the body, not sure if the tailgate had it since it is gone. Put on a color matched F 150 tailgate. Bed has Line-x. Interior is near perfect, except for the missing seats.....engine runs great.

I would love to find the prior owner to see if he or she has an extra key or the door code or any other parts for the truck.

Wheel flares would look great painted to match the body, I will have to put that on the list.

Thanks in advance, I can't wait to get this on the road.

Felipe

To install the rear shocks, its easier to loosen the u-bolts to drop the diff a bit to get the shock in
The valve on the fronts shouldnt matter unless you want to be checking the pressure

Front shocks should have 2 angled spacers per shock. One goes on top of the shock hat and one goes on top of the frame mount. The holes will only line up one way. For the rear shocks. Install the top shock bolt and let the shock hang. Put your floor jack under the tow hitch and jack it up until the lower bolt hole lines up

Well I got the driver’s side front shocks installed. A bit more work than anticipated. Ran out of time to do the passenger side. I only had one wedged spacer per side. I put it on the top of the shock mount. If they require two I guess that I am going to have to drop the shock to install the one that goes on top of the shock hat.

You should have 2 per shock. You need them to keep the nuts flat against the surfaces. Take a look at the nuts and see if they’re flat. If not you’ll probably end up bending the stud or more likely breaking the nuts

I double checked the ford parts page. I don’t see a second spacer or washer. I only see the wedged one that goes on top of the upper shock housing. Phil

One wedge goes on top of the shock hat but below the shock mount/bucket on the truck and then the second goes on top of the shock mount/bucket on the truck but below the nuts.
