I noticed yesterday on the way home from work doing 80mph on the freeway in about 65* ambient outside temp that the engine oil crept up to about 220-5* it settled back down to 200* when I slowed the mph down.

I know these engines supposedly run hot but never noticed the engine temp get that high before, ever.

Is this normal? Oil pressure was fine the entire time too. Thanks guys.

The screen on my truck is different than yours, since I have a 800a. But whenever I question temps or pressures, I usually select the one in question to make the single gauge appear. There are always red lines at the end of the range (just like a tach.) As long as my values are below the red lines, I assume everything is good.

Yep, all normal. The oil temp should run around 190-200 all the time. At higher engine revs/load it will run at the high end. It is cooled by the engine coolant.

I was curious why the change as I've never seen it get that hot before, not even during the summer here in Houston from what I remember.

The water thermostat is 195 degree on these trucks. I was having a lot of issues with seeing water temps at 250+ and my fans were coming on all the time. 2017 SCREW. I changed my t-stat to a 170 degree from SPD, based on tons of advice from other Raptor owners. Problem solved. Fans never come on any more and no high temps. 35$ part solved it for me.

The cylinder head temp is different from eng coolant ? I don’t see anywhere to see what engine coolant is or is cylinder head same as coolant temp
