Thanks! Biggest concern is what other rust is on the truck. But I guess a visit to a Ford dealership for a full inspection will find anything hidden.

Sounds like a good price....my 2014 had 52K and was a little higher when I bought last year...but also was Shelby Whippled..
No matter how stand up a guy the owner is....I'd take it to an independent shop and get a full PPI done on it for a hundred buck give or take, once your 95% sure you want it...dont go by the Dealer Inspection that some kids did and say the wipers and tires are OK...you need a full inspection.....
Good luck....Love mine.>!!

so on that note, what states SHOULD you avoid? I have seen many SVTs coming out of Texas as auction vehicles. Low 50k miles, single owner, but spent it's life in Texas....

Guess if the truck is taken to a Ford dealership to be checked out, it is ok?

This article shows SALT states: https://raybuck.com/salt-rust-corrosion-by-state/

I just got done showing a truck in a previous post that Ford apparently CPO'd after it was in an accident and the guy said, "Ford would have never certified it if it was in an accident".

I live in california so rust has never been an issue for me but I used to pain the underside of my 82 Toyota to keep it looking nice. Its pretty easy to cover it from underneath so best to look at the sheet metal if you can.

I found a Ca. only Black Raptor listed for 39k I am going to look at. They have had it for a while. I may offer them 35k or walk but I need to drive it first.

Born and raised in upstate NY and I would never buy used car from a road salt state. The problem with road salt cancer is it isn't evident on the vehicle until it's too late. Salt rust starts in the nooks and crannies of the body and undercarriage and then eats it's way out until you start seeing rust bubbles under the paint. It's just not worth the risk. ...unless you are living an a road salt state and are going to continue to drive there....then take the discounted price you can negotiate as a road salt exposed vehicle and enjoy!
