I purchased a set of the XL80s last month that came with a free pair of A pillar mounts (turned out to be Rigid and not SDHQ).

I installed the mounts/lights last night and while driving on the freeway today (****** 5/405 here in CA) I'm getting some serious visible vibration. I haven't tested them at night and/or at slower offroad but definitely bumpier speeds yet.

Is that normal?

I had my eye on the SDHQ mounts that look way beefier. Anyone have any experience with both mounts with the XL80s?

Thanks!

hmm... I am running alt-offroad mounts and don’t see that kind of movement. You’re sure everything it tight ? I mean sure, there’s going to be some movement but I’m east coast, our roads have been crappier for longer than you left coasters.

just sayin’

Wow that sucks The Rigid mounts are really inexpensive and not popular (for that reason). Who sold you those lights and promised you SDHQ? That's not cool.

I like the SDHQ and Alternative Offroad mounts for XL80s. We stock both for that reason here at 4x4TruckLEDs.com

The SDHQ sit lower and are great if you want a light closer to your windshield. You may need to get a different antenna depending on what light you run though, as it may hit the antenna. But these are rock solid mounts that work great.

The Alternative Offroad sit further up and mount to the hood. So as you open your hood, the mounts go with it. Great for larger lights as it sits in front of the antenna and won't get in the way. Also offers a quicker installation. They do sit more forward but another killer option.

You can't go wrong with either SDHQ or Alternative Offroad

Yeah everything is really tightened down. Just seems like the XL80s are too big for those rigid mounts. A lot of movement even at idle (stock engine).

The Off-road alliance guys are swapping them out for me . [emoji1360]

Thanks for the info! They didn’t necessarily promise me the SDHQ mounts, but said those would probably be the ones arriving. So I assumed. All good, just a miscommunication [emoji846].

I have that setup. There is some visible vibration on bumpy roads and at interstate speeds, but not excessive. It does not effect the performance of the light in any way. I didn't get free mounts when I ordered so I bought the Rigid mounts used for $30. No complaints for that $$.

302F54CE-D3C3-4603-8E7F-8374B814F29E.jpeg My XL80s are on SDHQ mounts and they are totally solid. They will clear the antenna if you use the inner holes.

Interesting topic just so happens I have an extra set, of the SDHQ's if you are interested let me know. I had a set of the ridged lights on the a pillar with the mounts for about 3 weeks and decided I didn't need them as my light bar and pocket lights were enough. you can see them in my pictures, just shoot me a message if interested as they are just laying in my closet.
