Issue being, While plugged in and running Carplay(few different apps). I can have the music playing(Any source), and if I pick my phone and open an app on the phone it will kill the music. I have to drop out of carplay, select a source to turn the music back on.

Is there an option on the phone to correct this? Couldn’t find a thing in Sync to correct the issue.

Truck(2019)has Sync 3.3 and for the record it’s happening in another vehicle we have running Sync 3.4 on a 2020.

Let’s say Waze is on Sync and I open a home surveillance camera app on the phone directly.

I had an issue with Waze killing the radio whenever I started it up. Was doing this on another car as well. Went to Waze, under sound settings changed to "default device" and that fixed it. Now the surveillance app - if it has sound - is going to overtake anything else going on, my Ring and Nest apps do this.

I can do this with Waze on the options, but Waze itself hasn’t caused audio issues otherwise. My camera app can feed audio, but I don’t have any audio coming from the originating DVR. I have Ring as well. I can test with other apps to see if anything with audio just takes over. I tried killing the app on the phone as well, but audio does not return until I select a source in Sync. Kinda sucks in non technical words.

I think this might be the phone; I have a few apps that interrupt music and notice it mutes music on my truck when they intervene.

Anytime you open your ring app or whatever it’ll kill the music because your cameras are streaming noise too.

Audio won't come back on its own, you'll need to enable it via Sync. You'll have to refrain from opening your surveillance app while it's plugged into Carplay. Also, which version of iOS are you using? The previous versions, before 13, would take over the Carplay interface if apps were being changed directly on the phone screen.

Bumma. I’m on 13.3. Guess it’s just the nature of the beast.

On my 2018 same thing happens when I go into the Nest Cam app. Like a previous member said I believe it’s because of the audio coming from the app for the surveillance.
