Just purchased the full American racing exhaust system. Had it installed today, this system is so loud it sounds like there is no exhaust on the truck, getting this sh t taken back off Monday. Anyone want to purchase?

Same thing happened to me with a Flowmaster muffler on a 1986 1/2 Nissan 4x4.
All it needed was a resonator half-way between the engine and the muffler.

You think that’ll fix it just have a resonator put in

That's my experience. This was on a inline four cylinder engine with a header which therefore had an exhaust note that was a lot harsher than that of a V8 or V6. Prior to the installation of the resonator the truck sounded like the space shuttle at liftoff, and when the engine reached the torque peak the Flowmaster rang like a bell. It was awful, and I was sure I would be arrested for disturbing the peace. Drove it like a little old man until I could get the resonator installed.

Suggestion: Call American Racing and describe your problem to them. They might send you a free resonator, or they might send you a return shipping label so you can send their product back to them at their expense. That way if they send you a resonator and that doesn't solve the problem, they can't say that you modified their system without authorization and that it is therefor non-returnable. Confirm that notion when you're on the phone with them.

Agree with putting the stock resonator back on. To me the trucks without them sound super raspy and that's probably what you didn't like too.

The full system with the cats second problem is the band on the downpipe is not correct they could not get the skid plate back on the truck because the pipe is hanging below the truck
