I notice when I drive in 4A the front end is always hunting for traction. Doesn’t drive smoothly. Always get a grabbing feeling from the front end.

From your explanation, I think this is happening to me. From what I can tell, 4A is engaging 4WD all the time, regardless of conditions, and I believe is the reason for that feeling that the front end is stiff feeling. Correct me if I’m wrong, but if I go into the Off Road menu and select Power Distribution, and it’s showing power going to my front, then it’s in 4WD? If so, my 4A isn’t working properly.

mine is the same, I have a 2019 SCREW, only 2000 miles, seems to just be the way 4A works, I can feel the torque steer and power distribution looks very much like full time 4H

I'd say maybe check your tire pressure and make sure it isn't too high? I'm in Florida, no snow, but lowering it to the recommended pressure helped me in the rain. I've had mine for two weeks.

I’m running between 36 and 38 all around, so I’m definitely not overinflated.

Out of curiosity, what’s the correlation between tire inflation and the 4WD system?

Normal 4A, front end engaging, steering feel, all normal.
All the time? Even in normal non-slippery dry conditions?

Something isn’t right here. According to the manual, the 4A mode provides power to the 4WD system, as required. Mine is putting power to the front all the time... even in dry conditions. If 4A is designed to be in 4WD all the time, then why have the 4A at all?

4A (4X4 AUTO)

Provides electronic controlled four-wheel drive with power delivered to the front and rear wheels, as required, for increased traction. 4A tuning varies based on selected Drive Mode See Drive Control (page 274). . 4A in Normal and Sport is appropriate for all on-road driving conditions, including, dry road surfaces. 4A in Snow/Wet is appropriate for slippery on-road conditions such as snow and ice covered roads.

Isn’t the 4WD system controlled by an air valve system... I think I read there’s a vacuum controlled valve that commonly gets stuck?

I get a heavy steering feel when in 4A, but I am pretty sure that is normal as it has been reported by many others in this forum. Is that what you mean?

So I noticed this last week. I had an 18 802a with the diff and it would switch between 2 and 4 as per the power distribution screen.

I now have a 19 with a 802a and it’s in consistent 4.

Something changed between 18 and 19. I thought it was just me.

I made a thread about this a couple of weeks ago.
