Supporting Membership now a subscription?

I've been a supporting member since 2013. I noticed today that it expired. No problem, I will renew. When I did the "Become a supporting member" and paid via Paypal, I noticed it was a subscription for $40. I do not like subscriptions. And just so you know, previously you had a range from $39 to $399 (or whatever) that you could choose and pay more if you liked, well I used to pay $99 because I had no issue paying more for the membership if it provided value so not sure about this new model of a forced automatically charged annually subscription.

When the time comes, how does one cancel this?

Looks like my membership was approved and I also noticed under my profile there is a cancel subscription option. I never got a notification that my membership was expiring or expired but guess the subscription program takes care of that issue.
