Hey guys
Recently bought a new Spyder headlight casing, (ill put a pic below, i recommend) and am looking for some LED bulbs to replace the worn out halogens.

Any suggestions on brand, lumen strength, or install issues faced?

So we have our own brand, CrystaLux which focuses on LED and HID lighting. It's our in-house brand.

We have a few styles of LED bulbs but our CrystaLux G11 Series are the latest. I believe those probably use an H7 bulb size in the projectors (most common). Our LED kits are available here: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/led-headlights-foglights/headlight-fog-light-bulbs/

Now if you want the most light, HID is the way to go in projectors. You'll get more light over the LED, which is good since it's a projector housing. LED are easier to install and WILL give you more light over Halogen of course. HID will give you even more light but requires a bit more for installation. You'll need to make a hole in the cap on the back of the light and pass the HID wires through, so you can connect them to the included ballast (with our kits). There's also about a 10 second warmup time. But once warmed up, you get a lot more light.

Our HID kits are available here: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/crystalux-t5-series-hid-xenon-conversion-kit/

That's for your stock housings. You are replacing your housings with new ones, therefore the bulb size is probably different. In fact, since you are going to a projector housing they WILL be. Projector housings don't use H13 bulb sizes. TYPICALLY aftermarket housings go for H7. Sometimes H1 in the highs. Or you could have H11 but that's mainly on Toyotas. I don't think i've yet to see a Ford aftermarket housing that didn't call for an H7 low, H1 high. But just check the bulb that comes with the housings, you'll see which bulb they used for high/low.

From the looks of yours, you'll be using 1 single headlight bulb. I'm 99.99% sure it's an H7. When you trigger your highs on a little solenoid fires and drops this piece of metal that covers 1/2 the projector, giving you a lot more light. Your H13 connector plugs into the harness on the back of the housing and inside the housing they change it to an H7 wire (most likely)

So I'm looking at the HID link you provided as well as the LED links. I'm curious if that HID kit is $140 for both sides or just one?

I'm planning to order something for my birthday to upgrade the headlights. I've got the stock projectors on a 2013. I do a lot of city driving and have lightbars for when I'm out playing; so I don't know if HID is really the way to go for me, or if I should be looking at the LED bulbs (this was my original thought).

Our kits include a pair of bulbs.

If you have the stock projectors on your Ford, then you don't want our complete HID Kit. You just want our HID bulbs (as you have HID from the factory already, you can simply swap out the old HID bulbs for new ones).

LED put out less light than HID. LED work in projector and reflector housings. However HID will work best in a projector housing. Factory HID bulbs on a Ford (equipped from the factory that is with HID) are size D3S. Available here: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/crystalux-5-0-series-hid-bulbs-d3-pair/

Unless your truck is new (and if you're driving a Gen1 it's not) your HID bulbs probably need replacing. HID bulbs don't last forever. They start to lose intensity after a few years. So if those are the original HID bulbs it's time you upgrade them. Our HID bulbs are plug and play for the factory system (again just get the D3S bulbs I linked). They'll be slightly brighter then factory were, but nothing CRAZY bright. You'll get a "refresh" basically and a little more light.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll send the link over to the wife. I'm hoping to go up in brightness a touch, but nothing terrible since there are street lights for most of my driving. When I get into areas there are not (to/from work) then I just flip on some LED pods.
