I'm wanting wire up my R3 and am trying to figure out which wires to tap.

Mirror tap red --> mirror plug black
Mirror tap black --> mirror plug green

That's not working, plus there are two wires in the hole where the green enters the plug, so it's unbelievably tight.

Any other ideas? I can't get my multimeter probes in there, so I'm at a loss here. Anyone else successful getting this to work?

I had my stereo shop install my mirror tap for my R3 and taps were not working so we had to pull down the plastic and solder the wires in the overhead.

Audio Design on Atlantic! My buddy works there and was helping me out so I can’t really give a accurate price. Just give them a call and get a quote and ask for Jay to do it. Tell them Danny with the Silver 19 told you to call.

Not sure why anyone would solder anything to the factory wires when it takes all of 15 seconds to insert pins and cleanly tap into the power.

To power my radar detector on my 2019 802a truck I tapped into the black wire on the rear view mirror plug for positive, and the dark blue wire for ground.

Sounds like someone needs extended reach needle probes for their meter.

I think, for whatever reason, I had it mind to use green for ground. I'll try the blue wire tomorrow and report back.

I'm trying to remember back 1 year when I wired mine, but I believe the dark blue ground is in the upper corner of the plug, good luck.

We tried and tried and couldn’t get the mirror tap to stay in the plug (Red to black and black wire to green) got power but any wiggle and it cut power. So we soldered it and it’s been solid as a rock.

The plug has both green and blue, and right next to one another. Was trying to find this info via Google search and came up with the green as ground somewhere.

It's too dark to mess with it now, I'll try again tomorrow.

I got that info from another member on here, if you search 2019 mirror tap on this forum it will show that thread and he figured out which wires.
