Hey all I am installing the new front shocks and I can’t seem to find any info on whether or not I need to retain the top tapered mount from the OEM shock. The bolts that came with the new shocks appear to be too short to keep it. When I look online at install videos it shows the threads shipped inside the shock. Mine didn’t have them. They provided 3-1” bolts to mount the top of the shock. What am I missing? Do I keep that top circular mount bracket?

Bottom pic is what it looks like w/o the tapered bracket.

This is one of the videos I watched...

They say nothing about the tapered collar at the top.

Why don’t you ask the vendor who sold them to you? If they are selling an item they should know how it works and installs.

But to answer your question, you do not use the collar wedges either on the top or bottom with any upgraded 3.0 shocks, only use is on the stock ones.

Thank you for the answer. The people who sold them to me are not open until Monday.

Would you mind giving an update on how these shocks ride compared to the stockers? I’m most concerned with on road ride.

Thanks

They are riding great. Vastly different than what I was riding but keep in mind my stock has 150k on them so they were pretty worn out. I haven’t exactly figured out the settings yet but there is a noticeable difference in ride with each adjustment. It’s just a matter of getting it dialed in to preference. I have seen some guy last say they leave it wide open for road driving but that seemed to soft for me. Hope this helps!
