Can you guys elaborate on what the TRR is? Is it the Texas Raptor Run? I sent questions in to the website but haven’t heard from anyone. Is there a 2020 schedule yet?

Yes Texas Raptor Run that is run by @treypal

www.texasraptorrun.com

I haven’t seen anything posted on the 2020 schedule other than the two Baja Runs in March. He calls those BRR
I would guess that TRR 2020 in west Texas near Blackwell on Texana Ranch will be scheduled May 14-16.

Let’s hope it doesn’t rain. The running joke is, if its a Trey event, its gonna rain.

What sucks about it raining is people tend to get stuck causing the staff needing to get the trucks out. Its a 40 mile trail, so it might take some time. Usually Trey will close the entire track down and we wait. On the front half they can make it a short 3 mile track that if someone gets stuck, they can get to them quickly. So TRR ends up being a 3 mile track weekend. Sucks because some folks have driven a long ways just to drive on a short track. I fully understand the reason behind what happens when it rains and storms, just wish that Trey and Mother Nature can shake hands and make a deal for that weekend.

Running at night is a lot of fun. Sometimes they might just run the back half since its shorter and they can get to someone quicker. Breaking down in the dark puts a whole different aspect on fixing/recovery.

Front half - 25 miles (lots of rocks, shale, hill climbs, can be rough)
Back half - 15 miles (smoother, more technical with jumps)

The front half ends at the beginning of where the back half starts. So you can start at the front half or start at the back half. If starting at the front half, you can just drive straight through to the back half for the full 40 mile run.

A few years ago it used to be about 44 miles but they have cut it out over the years. In my stock truck back in 2014, it took over 2 hours to run the course. Now with upgrades, I can run it in just about 65 minutes. Hauling ass is definitely funnier.

I took a small box trailer. Went with several others. We used the trailer to store all of our loose stuff - tires, coolers, clothes, etc. Other than that, wait to buy upgrades until you actually get there. The vendors offer some great pricing and installation. Stock is ok getting there. The best part is driving home what you brought. That's why we bought the most capable off road truck to begin with, right?

The best piece of advice I can give? Enjoy yourself. Take your time. Do what's fun for you. Upgrade for the next time....

I was able to reserve an RV from Sweetwater before they are gone. Hopefully the new June date will mean no rain, crossing fingers.
