I am very curious to hear from Veterans of the TRR. I can google the rules and regulations to be compliant to take my truck to the track. I can watch you tube videos to nauseum, but I want to hear it from the guys and gals that have blazed the trail before me. What are a few things that after you went to the TRR track you made sure this thing was added to your truck or camping needs? I'm looking for those simple little things people might over look and can make their 1st time SO MUCH more enjoyable.

here are a few I didnt have last year but next time I do hope to have.
2nd spare tire
bump stops
chase lights
radio
better mounting/ anchor points for stuff in bed.
Better air compressor.
I camped 1 night and hotel room the next. camping was fun after course was closed. I drank some beer with guys next to me, they were grilling ect. 2nd night it rained quite a bit, so a good rain proof tent or something that will get u off the ground would probably be very beneficial, everything was soaked.

take ALL of the loose stuff out of your truck. including the crap in your center console.

If it isn't tied down and secure, it shouldn't be in or on the truck.

as far as helmets, if you want to use the vhf while driving, opt for an open face helmet. ( unless you have an intercom and wired helmets)

bring lots of the biggest zip ties that you can find.

Drive only what you can see. Dont try to send the truck over every jump.

More trucks get hammered at TRR than on desert runs. ( because of the jumping and superhero status potential)

View media item 14571You will be fine with a stock truck. Anything loose will end up all over the floor. Secure everything in the bed. Motorcycle helmet will be fine. Just drive where you feel comfortable. Remember that you will have to get home in the same truck. TRR, Raptor X, Raptober .

My first time, I went with an upgraded skid plate, bump stop kit and a bed rack to hold a spare and jack.

You ask this question but what is your budget for this? That makes a difference

My budget currently is consisting of :

A fresh set of tires
amber pilar lights.
Try to come up up a second spare rim and tire
build tire rack
build and secure toolboxes and coolers and jack
radio
large zip ties

This is my project management list. What doesn't get done before the TRR wasn't in the budget =)

Hey man thanks for the info. I didn't realize everyone drove there trucks there. I was budgeting for a car trailer for the trip. That should free up a little money.

With that list, you already determined your budget and it looks spent. I am asking if you then had any $$ to spend.

Can you guys elaborate on what the TRR is? Is it the Texas Raptor Run? I sent questions in to the website but haven’t heard from anyone. Is there a 2020 schedule yet?

Thanks much!
