Nice work! Why the wide cornering on the inside and not the combo? Wouldn’t you lose more light there due to the bumper? I’m about to do something similar but was going to do combo on inside and wide cornering in the middle.

Amber is for fog, snow, or heavy rain. Driving combo lens is 1/2 spot and 1/2 wide cornering.
The 1/2 spot will not project very far thru fog, snow, or heavy rain, even with amber, so I think I would have less glare (the whole point of amber) and more light up close with the wide cornering.

S2 Pros on the outside give plenty of light up close. I run these as driving lights and have them aimed to hit about 4 car lengths ahead which also gives plenty of splash to the sides up close.

The Squad racers in the center I have aimed out about the same as the factory headlights. I don't run these on the road but they add a lot more fill out to medium distance.

I decided that if I want to go for long distance it's going to take something bigger than squadrons and something mounted higher. I think LP6's or LP9's mounted like 4x4trucksLED.com truck would be the ticket for that.

Do you run your S2's at night? I'm curious if you've had any issues with oncoming cars flashing you their brights at you?

I'm planning to pick up a fog pocket kit once I see what the black friday specials are but am having a hard time deciding what lens/light combo to go with. I really like the look of the smaller S1 on the outside of the pockets, vs the Squadron SAE, and would like to use them as running lights but am concerned they may be too bright... Looks like the S1 and S2 Pro have very similar output so I'm curious what your experience has been like.

I personally run S2 Pros in Wide Cornering everytime my truck is on. The upfitter is always thrown. I've never been flashed. I have them aimed down at the ground right in front of the truck to light up that area in front and to the sides. Works great.

I'm going to be swapping them out for Squadron SAE's when I get time however.

You'll be fine running S1 Wide Cornering, S2 Sport Wide Cornering or S2 Pro Wide Cornerings down there, in addition to Squadron SAE of course. Just make sure you align them properly by adjusting the pattern so it's below your low beams.

My solution to working with the little bitty factory wires was to solder on a foot or so of 14 gauge wire to each of the six aux and six pass thru wires. Then I installed Deutsch 6 position connectors.

The connectors are waterproof. The white dots on top are plugs for the empty holes. I used Deutsch DT solid pins.

Makes it plug and play.

That's not a bad idea. I do something similar, only my circuits are still individual on one line/connector. I put these on my wires so I can swap them as I need to (important for me since I test lights out)

I actually just ordered some Weatherpack single pin plugs and a Weatherpack crimper tool. Soon as I get the stuff in I plan on re-doing the connections so I can unplug them.

Yes, I run the S2's pros at night as driving lights and don't have any problems with people flashing their brights at me. I do have the S2s aimed down where the hit the road about 3 truck lengths out but that still gives plenty of light to fill in the black hole up close you have with the Gen 2 Raptor because of not having any driving lights and the S2s throw a lot of light off to the sides up close too. I think that if I had run the S2's as driving lights 10 years ago I would be getting flashed all the time, but some many new cars have got really bright LED driving lights, I don't think people notice as much anymore.

Having good driving lights is a must have. If I had it to do over again, the fog light kit would be the very first thing I would put on a factory gen2 Raptor. I would recommend getting a fog light kit with the S2 Pro's (The Pro kit or Unlimited Kit) because the S2 Pro's just do such a great job up close.

And I would also recommend getting the 3 wire harness from 4x4TruckLEDs. It will give you the option to swap Amber Lens with the Squadrons driving combos you want and control all the fog kit lights separately.

Curious as to why you soldered the 14g wire to the up fitter wires?

I soldered my weather pack pins to my up fitter wires. I think it accomplishes the same plug and play capability.

Two reasons.
  • I mounted the Deutsch DT connectors on the firewall and needed longer wires
  • The factory wires are too small to work with the Deutsch connectors that I chose.
I mounted both DT connectors and the relay for the BD backup lights to an aluminum L bracket and slipped the bracket under the plastic cover on top of the firewall.
