Does this work without any issues - you have it?

That’s not a bad price if it works well. I may give one a go. I hate cables. Will give me an excuse to install some type of wireless charging pad as well then.

Anyone using it?

I read on one of the Kia forums it was working fine, except for phone calls. That with calls there was a delay, and enough to be annoying. Its why I held off as I take a lot of work calls while on the road and cant have that happening.

There may be truth to it. I looked at some videos and read some reviews stating once you start your vehicle do not touch the infotainment system and wait for 30-40 seconds until your phone finally syncs with the adapter and CarPlay loads. Delays would be annoying.

it makes sense if you think about it. You’re adding another layer and potential for latency.

True true true. Authentication from the phone to that adapter via BT and WiFi can account for this delay.

We would have to accept it then.

If you hate plugging in your phone all the time....how do you charge it on long drives?

If I had a wireless solution for CarPlay, I would then install a wireless charging pad for sure. Or I would just plug in if I needed a charge. But many drives are just local and don’t need to charge.

I posted this on another thread but take it for whatever its worth. When I bought my Raptor on Friday, the dealer mentioned that Ford was preparing to release a firmware upgrade that would allow wireless Apple CarPlay. So fingers crossed on this one.

Haha, you do realize that dealer will tell you anything in the world to sell the car? This is absolutely nonsense, you'd need an entirely different hardware for wireless CarPlay to work.

During test drive I had salesman tell me that Ford will also be providing a firmware to increase engine output by up to 50 HP. I just laughed at the guy, yet he continued to upsell me on that upgrade.

Exactly. That’s why I educate myself very well on the vehicles I buy. One reason is to know what I want, but can’t solely rely on the sales person. While they can turn you on to a feature, they rarely know all the models inside and out.

If the vehicle doesn’t have it when you drive off the lot, don’t expect to get it later. Unless you have a signed “We Owe You” and that won’t be on a future update.

I’d like to believe some software updates can maybe bring more enhancements, but not gonna bank on it lol
