Traction control for TRR runs

Nothing beats Raptor drifting offroad, well maybe onroad will beat it

Where I live the dirt roads are just RED DIRT no gravel. It gets very sandy in alot of spots especially when running down the river roads. If it's not sandy it will be very muddy due to shade of the trees on the road. It throws several different terrains at you. So I feel like it gives me good practice with my truck.

I am exited to give this a shot this weekend! on the TRR track will it require a lot of drifting? Are there any other driving techniques that a person should practice in their truck before going?

When at TRR you can drive at your own pace, it's not a race. You can tear through the track or do it at 10 MPH if you want. If you see a truck coming up on you, move over and let them pass. As someone mentioned, there is more technical aspects to TRR and lots of terrain changes. Dont worry about drifting, just worry about driving. Also, my comment about turning traction control off had nothing to do with drifting. If you leave the TC On and loose traction (which you are bound to do offroading), the computer cuts power to the engine cause it thinks you are about to crash. That works for the street, not offroading. Having your power cut while getting on it offroading is not good. When in doubt, throttle out. Have confidence in your truck. You are there all weekend, so take the 1st lap slow and work your way up from there.

Will do Sir, I learned the hard way on the truck cutting out and thinking it was going to crash. I was dragging skid plates through a very rutted out road when it started to cut out and stall. My co-pilot ( My son) reached up and pushed the traction control off button just in time to save it from being a recovery. So you camp all weekend a TRR?

TRR has some corners you can get sideways on but I would say most places do not. Its a fun trail and the first half is somewhat rocky. Personally it seems the faster you go, the rocky stuff smooths out. ;-) But have the suspension because stock can feel rough.

I used to lock the diffs but haven’t been doing that lately as it can damage more easily. I do ORM, Turn off traction (hold 10 secs), 2WD and lock out gears 4-6. Some hills you can switch to 4x4 but I don’t.

You have 3 days there, run it at a comfortable pace at first and pick up speed as you learn the trail.

And yes, you can camp onsite for free other than the $10 per person site fee. Just got to be out by Sunday. They have ONE shower and a swimming pool. No open fires but can have a grill. They is an onsite food vendor there too.

If you have an RV, they have spots with power and water hookups that you can purchase. Dump is towards the entrance.

If you don’t stay onsite, Sweetwater has motels and is about 30 minutes away.

TRR is definitely worth going to and hopefully it doesn’t rain. You will have a blast!
