Not sure what you want to hear, the alternator will put out roughly 120 amps @ idle, your truck just simply running will use 30-40 amps just to run and operate the electronics required to run the vehicle. If you somehow manage to exceed that 120 amps, you will start consuming power power from the battery. Would I replace that battery, absolutely, it only costs a few dollars more to fly first class. And remember, anything worth doing, is worth over doing. YMMV

So the question at hand is..... is your alternator working up to it's full potential? Because that's what your lights and truck are running off of.

My alternator seems fine. I have had alternator issues on previous vehicles and I haven’t experienced any issues similar yet. I just figured I would ask about batteries as a conversation starter.

This is what “sparked” my interest:

Optima has a regular duty battery and a higher end one to support additional electronics. They mention upgraded music systems, winches and whatnot. Made me wonder if high end lighting would benefit from a high end battery.

If I was running an amazon special then a potato dipped in salt water would probably work. But I flip the switch on a 20” BD ONX+, 4 VisionX light cannons and soon 2 LP4’s.

Seems like it doesn’t matter based on above posts and my curiosity has been satisfied. Thanks for the replies.

Raptor36 what patten is the 20” bar
Spot or combo ? Looking to replace my rigid with a bd.

I ordered combo first. So I can check out two patterns at once. I recently bought the all wide cornering lens. Due to how low it is mounted, I enjoy this pattern very much. I am a firm believer, after spends lots of $$$$ and making mistakes, that a spot pattern doesn’t do justice mounted below the headlight. Personal opinion of course :)

Check out my on going write up with some photos:
