So, any of you lighting gurus have a set that I can flush mount in the bumper? Smaller the better. I can make a square hole in the bumper. At the area with the pointer.

We looked into doing some S2 Flush Mounts there. The problem was that curved area. We think it'll fit but you'd have to be very exact. Plus you'd be mounting them at an angle. If you want to give it a try you'd want 2 of these:

Then the following harnesses

Splitter Harness: http://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-designs-squadron-s2-wire-harness-splitter-55-universal/
Upfitter Connector (you'll use this to tap into your tail lights NOT your upfitters): http://www.4x4truckleds.com/baja-designs-ford-upfitter-wiring-harness-squadron-pro-sport-s2/

The tail light connection that comes with the S2 reverse kit's is actually an upfitter harness, only it's a very short upfitter harness since it's for the tails. However the regular upfitter harness will do the job. You'll just have some extra slack is all.

We offer a custom kit using a Rigid A series light and our custom wirng harness. They're pretty small!

I'll be following this. I also want brighter reverse lights but don't like the look of the lights hanging from the bumper. I'm not sure there is enough flat surface in the bumper to put recessed light in, anyone done it?
I was looking at my bumper with the thought of installing the surface mount cubes. Parts of the bumper are angled slightly downward and there are ridges and styling lines that made me decide to install some really small ones that hang down as you said. These are really small ones from Rigid, do not remember the model # but could look it up if needed.

Those are the Rigid Ignite series. The do also come in a flush mount set with each faceplate measuring 2.5" x 2". At 1,000 lumens each, those aren't bad at all.

It should be noted that through my research and 4x4 off road lights help, I have determined that even the 801a non blis taillights are still LED and cant be improved with a simple bulb :(
