I would remove the cabin air filter, vacuum out as much as I could, then maybe blow out the air ducts with a compressor nozzle and vacuum again before putting a new air filter in.

Solid advice here. Then do what the previous post said.

Shit, why didn’t I think of that?
Yeah getting sand in the air ducts is a real PITA to get out. He could probably clean it all out per your suggestion and then just let in run in the driveway with the AC on until all the residual sand is out.

Looks super easy. Barely enough time to have a beer while you wrench.
Anybody have experience with the k&n cabin filter? Does it work as advertised, not reducing airflow, etc.?

I have this issue with Oceano Dunes sand (we Gen1 owners don't have a cabin filter either!) so I will run the air at full speed on the highway for a few minutes and most of the sand is blown out on to the seats and everywhere else!

I always run the air on recirculate while off-road but sand still managed to get sucked inside :(
