ebay has been a little scarce lately but @xrocket21 is right. 7k has to be for 3.0 King, Fox or Icon with install/alignment. Brand new OEM Fox shocks from Tasca are $1600 plus install. In the off chance the leafs are shot Deavers can be had (great even if you don't need leafs) for around $1300 depending on vendor.

I was quoted $3,300 for the Fox coil overs and $2,700 for the rear shocks (shipping included for everything). This is the information I received, I'm not making any of this up. Add another $1,000 for install and fix whatever else they find and you are at $7K.

That's outrageous. You can literally use those links and the parts are under $1600 and the install might be $5-600 shop depending.

Those prices are for the aftermarket adjustable FOX 3.0s made specifically for Gen 1s, not OEM. If they try to charge you $7K for OEM, kick them in the balls for free instead.

One of the best things about this forum is that a lot of these boys are pretty good at helping you to NOT get ripped off. Gen1 OEM shocks run $1600+/-. Gen1 upgrade shocks are going to cost you $7k+/-...

There’s a lot to like about either Gen. go out and make the deal on one you like!

Living in a middle-class part of town, I can confirm that I get more compliments than the rampant number of Gen 2 Raptor owners on their trucks...
We joke how often you see Raptors around my neighborhood, so it's not uncommon. Lol.
But people stop all the time to compliment mine. There's something about the Gen 1 that looks massive and impressive. The compliment I hear about Gen 2's are often, "Dang, that thing was expensive..." It probably helps that mine is a Race Red, supercharged Gen 1, but still... Lol
Just my experience.

I've owned one of each. I started with a 2011 Gen1 and I sold that and moved directly to a 2017 Gen2. I loved my Gen1. It was silver with the black graphics and I even added some additional graphics to advertise my business (think AR-15 graphics on the doors, lol). It was very cool looking. When I moved to the Gen2 the ONLY thing I missed about the Gen1 was the sound of it. That is it. The Gen2 is a much better vehicle in my opinion.

Pros of Gen1 over Gen2
it sounds way cooler!

Pros of Gen2 over Gen1
it's quicker
it gets better MPG
it has a bird's eye view 4 camera system (a VERY cool and useful feature, especially when parking)
it has an awesome moon roof
it has a better infotainment system (apple carplay support!)
better tailgate step system
lockable, soft-drop tail gate
bed lighting
six auxiliary switches in a better location (and much easier to wire)
paddle shifters
push-start ignition
collision warning system

I'm sure there are more I am not thinking of at the moment. On mine, sometimes the transmission does some odd hard shifts or doesn't downshift when I think it should, that is really the only thing I find annoying with it - seems to happen more in normal mode than in sport. Not everyone experiences this though, but I do get it from time to time. So far it's not frequent enough for me to leave it with the dealer. They did do a "software reset or upgrade" one time that helped, but did not eliminate it.

My Gen2 has not required any repairs so far, other than the one time I left it with them to do their software trick on the transmission.

My Gen1 didn't require any repairs either but I did have the dreaded driveshaft "clunk" that Ford repaired for free.
