hello, i have been on here every day reading different forums and trying to help where i can. I have a 2018 Raptor 802a i bought about 5months ago. It currently has 15,000 miles on it. I took it to the dealership for warranty issues. I started to hear a rattle under the truck. It sounded like exhaust rattling. I read on here there a hanger known to go bad. Not a big deal. But before i took it in I noticed a clicking noise coming from the front. When I accelerate slightly and let off the pedal i hear a clicking noise as if it was the cv axels in 4wd. I didnt think that was normal. But the biggest concern was a few months back i smelled coolant when the truck had been running, not alot just slightly. I took it into the dealership and they pressure tested it and it came back fine. Well today I dropped it off at the dealership again to get the rattling and clicking looked at I mentioned the coolant thing to them again. I just got off the phone and they said the water pump was leaking a bit at the weep hole and their going to replace the pump. Never heard of that before. Also this dealership doesn’t offer loaners so im paying out of pocket for a rental. Any advice? Or honest 2 cents on the noises or other things to look out for. thanx in advance.

My water pump is leaking too on my 2018, started with less than 3k miles on it. I now have 10k and haven't taken it in yet but it's on the to-do list. Pretty disappointing.

Haven't seen a single low mileage water pump failure on 3.5 GTDI. I wouldn't be alarmed.

As far as the clicking noise, that may be the IWEs. Try duplicating the issue, once you can get it to happen switch to 4WD Auto. If the noise goes away when testing it in the same manner, it's related to a loss of vacuum to the IWE system.

Ford released the following TSB related to the noise on 2013-2018 F-150/Expedition. It's an extremely simply system, if the dealer follows the bulletin that can diagnose it within an hour:

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
4WD - Intermittent Grinding Noise While Driving 19-2252

Unless you're experiencing a phaser noise or performance issue, you're probably fine. As far as mileage, I haven't seen any correlation, but if they're faulty they seem to exhibit a noise before 40K miles.

Your right. Srry about that wanted to make sure I posted in the correct thread. Im the only owner. Wouldn’t it be standard practice for a dealership to preform a flush and re fill of the coolant system due to them removing the water pump. I would imagine majority of the coolant would drain out from the block once taken off and the dealership would have to drain to radiator and overflow prior to avoid an unnecessary mess.

So an update to the truck. It is still at the dealership. Not only is the water pump leaking from the weep hole but they noticed the thermostat housing was warped from the factory. They are replacing that as well. But they can re create the marble in a can noise. Once they put the truck back together they want me to recreate the noise. Again it only seems to do it once the truck is at operating temperature. When you start to slow down to stop at a light or sign it will rattle very loud. If i keep it in park and rev you can hear it rattle on the deceleration only. Again only if the engine is warm. The dealer check the exhaust moved it around, smacked the exhaust with a rubber mallet. Nothing rattles. It also doesn’t do anything on rough terrain. The only thing I can think of is one or both of the Catalytic converter’s have gone bad or came loose. I still feel this is unlikely because I have not push this thing that hard and it’s a 2018 with only 15,000 miles. But shit happens. Any ideas to help me narrow down this issue
