I’ve heard it go both ways with downpipes on gen2 Raptors; they’re needed when you’re trying to get the maximum out of the truck OR they won’t do anything for you at all and you’re wasting your time.

Personally, I bought SPD downpipes and turbo adapters and will be tuning the truck through MPT hopefully.

I think the bigger argument on the forums is whether an aftermarket intake is worth the investment or not.

With all that being said, there is likely more power to be had by going FMIC vs downpipes. Only because +40° intake manifold temps over ambient kill more power than downpipes can ever release.

I would agree with this line of thought.
I had the SPD catted DPs on my truck for about 2 weeks ( took them off because I didn’t care for the increase in sound/ rasp, overpowering the sound I had from my CAI sound, yes personal preference I know...)

that being said, at the time I had Roush CAI, turbosmart bov ( if it at all would matter, lol), and did the SPD adapters. I will say I noticed a definite increase in off the line torque, a little better spool up that would be expected from any larger DP on a turbo charged motor... never had it on a Dyno to confirm any type of numbers, and I don’t think it did much top end HP wise. That being said, is it worth the $$$ and labor to install??? Guess it depends on your goals for the truck and budget. I now have the Cobb tuner installed and I’m curious as to what it’d be like with them and the tune installed.

If you’re interested in a set of barely used SPD catted DPs I was thinking of putting them up on the market place, just haven’t gotten around to it.

I’ve been looking at the SPD downpipes with high flow cats for my 18 Raptor. I already have the SPD turbo adapters and Whipple intake intercooler and tune and was told by the guys at Ken Grody Ford that it doesn’t really make a difference in performance. Just sound. I need to find a place in Orange County Ca that has a dyno that fits a Raptor so I can get some real #s.

Too loud... just search on youtube. I’m sure there’s gains to be made, but way too obnoxious. Also, they’d cause CELs without a tune or O2 sensor extensions (which could still throw a code every blue moon).
